White Paper: The EU plans to supply Ukraine with at least 2 million ammunition per year.

In the White Paper on the future defense of the EU, there is a separate section dedicated to Ukraine. It provides for an increase in European aid, including the supply of military equipment and at least 2 million units of ammunition annually.
This was reported by the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, as reported by Ukrinform.
'In the White Paper, we took into account the proposals contained in the initiative to support Ukraine. This involves more assistance for Ukraine, including more ammunition - at least 2 million units (shells - ed.) per year - as well as air defense systems, drones, training, and equipping Ukrainian brigades. It also includes direct support for the Ukrainian defense industry and expanding access to space services. The new SAFE instrument (a loan instrument with a capacity of 150 billion euros - ed.) proposed by the European Commission will help achieve this ambitious goal,' said Borrell.
Borrell reminded that the Russian economy is now fully directed towards war. 40% of the Russian federal budget is allocated to military purposes, which exceeds total expenditures on education, healthcare, and social issues.
'Regardless of the ongoing peace negotiations in Ukraine, this (Russian) investment is long-term and aimed at a long-term plan for aggression. Ukraine must be armed to avoid future attacks. We need a long-term plan to be able to do this,' said the EU's High Representative.
Borrell noted that today’s document from the European Commission is the EU's plan to overcome immediate threats and build European defense in the future. This will help countries in Europe achieve the defense capabilities specified in the NATO capability development targets.
'We are doing this not to wage war, but to prepare for the worst, to protect peace in Europe and to strengthen our power in a world where power cannot mean right,' added the EU's High Representative.
