American Democracy Under Threat: Trump Concentrates Power in His Hands - CNN.

Trump's Second Term: Attacks on the Separation of Powers
The second presidential term of Donald Trump continues, characterized by active attacks on institutions and individuals whom the president considers his enemies. According to CNN, experts see a common goal in these confrontations - undermining the separation of powers, which is the foundation of the U.S. Constitution.
'The level of aggressiveness and the speed at which the (administration) is moving is unprecedented,' said political scientist Paul Pierson.
'They are demonstrating a whole spectrum of behavior that violates commonly accepted understandings of what the law and Constitution mean,' he added.
Yuval Levin, director of the American Enterprise Institute, believes that Trump seeks to expand presidential power to a level that has not been achieved in the last hundred years.
Centralization of Power in the Presidency
Trump's second term is characterized by a struggle against any limitations imposed by the Constitution to prevent the abuse of presidential power. The president has marginalized Congress, ignoring laws that are not beneficial to him and firing numerous officials.
Such actions have also encompassed civil society, as Trump has directed pressure on law firms and universities. For his supporters, such a broad campaign against the separation of powers is a benefit.
It remains uncertain whether Trump can overcome the separation of powers and achieve a tangible centralization of power in the presidency. An important question is whether the Supreme Court can limit the president in these efforts.
