World Water Day
The idea of holding World Water Day appeared at the UN Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) in 1992. The UN General Assembly adopted resolution 47/193 on February 22, 1993, which proclaimed March 22 as World Water Day. Since then, countries have started to celebrate this day, paying attention to the importance of water resources for environmental and social development.
This day reminds all humanity of the importance of water resources and the need for practical actions to find solutions in this area.
Taxi Driver Day
Every year on March 22, International Taxi Driver Day is celebrated. In 1907, the first cars with taximeters appeared on the streets of London, allowing the calculation of service costs. The drivers of these cars began to be called taxi drivers.
In memory of Saint Basil of Ancyra
On March 22, the Orthodox calendar honors the memory of Saint Basil of Ancyra. He was a citizen of the city of Ankara and suffered during the persecutions. Saint Basil endured torture but survived. He died at the hands of animals in 362 AD.
